Hi there,

This is my first time here. I’m looking for a new audio interface for my PC set, and wondering if you have any comments to share in general. Basically, I’ve been using Waveterminal 2496 and would love to take myself to the next level. I’m considering Aardvark Q10 and Motu 828 mkII in particular. It’d be great if you can compare those 2 in following regards;

1. Quality of the Converters
2. Compatibility with PC (either with logic audio, or Cubase SX)
3. DSP Abilities and latency

Thanks a lot in advance your help.

I've heard the LynxTwo soundcard is top of the range for AD converters, however you would need external preamps

The MOTU units were designed to work with Macintosh, they would be my first choice... if I could afford a Mac. If you have a PC I would look at Echo Layla (req. preamps) or the Aardvark Q10 (does not req. preamps). The only complaint I recall on the Aardvark is that the interface card runs pretty hot, but they may have changed.

As far as coverters go, the MOTU is better.
As far as pre-amps, the Echo Mona even has better pre's than the Q10, but it's a slight diff.
And the MOTU works with PC as well as MAC, not just MAC.

Both are nice! I traded the Q10 in for the 828 mkII due to the Q10's incompatibility issues with my PC. The MOTU has given me no problems on my PC. (Duron 1.2ghz - Cubase SX) Great converters and zilch latency! The Q10 is nice too as long as you contact their tech support (Ben) first to check compatibility. As far as the MOTU, make sure you buy a recently manufactured unit. There was a problem with the LCD screens dying out on the earlier units shipped. MOTU is replacing them for you upon complaint with no problem.

Thank you very much!!

How about Soundscape Mixtreme with iBox 8-line?

How is it comparing with Q10 and 828mk2, regarding to quality of the Converters and compatibility with music softwares such as Logic and Cubase SX?
