I have had this aardvark since about April, and Aardvark has since gone out of business. I am running cakewalk sonar 3 and get dropouts and erros that say "connection to driver failed."

are any other cakewalk or aardvark users getting this, if so, did you remedy it? how?

thanks.

Have you looked at Cakewalks website and ensured you have the newest drivers? I dont use it, but im just thinking of ideas..

Its a website dedicated to the dead aardvark stuff. They have drivers for the Q10 as well as older ones so that you can see if they work any better.

I would try reinstalling the driver YOU have first. If it still dropouts, download the newest one there.

I usually would get that message if another program was using sound when I tried to open my recording program. So be sure to turn off windows sounds, close your itunes (force close itunes helper, any background crap like that), winamp/windows media..etc. etc.

I've gotten similar messages using, cubase and my Q10. The probleme really lies within windows, having problems with the drivers. Nothing but restarting my machine seems to solve the problem. Thankfully it never happens after I've brought cubase up, only on occasion when trying to start it up for the first time.

Yeah, make sure you have Windows down to the BARE MINIMUM of processes (if you have anti-virus software and youre trying to record...), especially related to audio things. I always disable my onboard audio, usb, firewire, etc etc. (everything that is not essential that might get in the way) prior to serious recording. There is a way you can set up a different boot thing (forget what its called) so windows won't even load certain drivers or software if you tell it not to (and you select which boot you want when the pc starts up).

There are some internet sites around that will tell you how to further tweak windows xp for audio recording that can help a bit too.

This isn't really specific to your problem but every little thing helps when messing with a finicky computer.

definately reinstall your aardvark card (physically take the pci card out) and then reinstall it and put the driver you have back on. if that doesnt help, then try a newer driver version if there is one... if not sometimes the older ones actually work better.

You might try downloading a free trial version of some other recording software to see if you have the same problems.

hope this helps
