i've got two queries about the direct pro 24/96.

I want to record my guitar direct input into the 24/96. I do have a direct output on my amp. But i'm a little hazy as to what this actually does in the real world. If it's just an unbalanced signal or, if it is infact, a line level signal. Will i need a d.i box in this situation or will it be fine to go straight from amp to dp24/96.

And also, i'm quite sure i'm right, but i'd just like to throw it out there.

can the dp24/96 run condenser mics and dynamic mics simultaneously. ie : recording drums.

cheers,
Rory.

Can't answer the first question. But you can certainly use condensor and dynamic mics at the same time. Phantom power has no effect on dynamic mics.

The direct out on an amp is usually a line level signal. That doesn't mean it will sound good but you should be able to get a strong signal.

ok, i spoke to the aardvark techie and he said that most outputs on amps are basically a d.i box of their own.

so tex, it might not sound good... is this why people use the d.i box... ???

i would imagine so. Also, is their a huge advantage in having a d.i box as opposed to the raw output on the amp ? If so, how much is a good d.i box ?

cheers,
Rory.

decent sound try it

I got a decent sound going straight from my guitar in to the aardvark - cranked up. Sounds crunchy and decent. B the way my 24/96 is for sale under ads here. I just got a job running pro tools. But honestly the 24/96 tocked.
