I just bought the 24/96 and nothing is working. But is seems my main issue is that anytime I try to play sound from any application I get an error that the sound device is in use by another application. No matter what applications I close I keep getting this error. I am running Win 2000. I search the web for about an hour without finding anyone with a similiar problem. Anybody have any experience with this issue/card?

Also, what do you use as audio out? S/PDIF? 1/4"? RCA?

Update

I installed the sound card in my other computer and I had no problems getting the sound to work. But, I did not want to use this computer for recording. I figure it must be a hardware conflict. Anyone know where I could begin to look for any confilicting IRQ's or something else.

Another issue. When I installed the directpro on this computer I could get sound out, but when I plugged anything into the inputs, I couldn't get any signal. I tried to plug my guitar into the box, but no sound or signal.

this is going to take a bit of troubleshooting from me.
i'm a computer engr. will try and help.
but i need your computer confign in FULL.
including whats in your pci slots.
basic stuff. did you identify the sound card drivers in your recording application ??
also - tell me your input signal chain to the soundcard please.
using a mixer ? mic ?
in device mgr tell if you have any conflicts "flagged" by windows.
also tell me what your trying to record. peace.

My computer set up is:
AMD Semptron 2.4
Albatron Mother board with VIA KT600 Mainboard Series
256 MB RAM
32MB AGP Video Card (ATI I believe)
The only other thing I have in my PCI slot is the Promis Ultra100 to support my 160 GB drive. I have onboard ethernet and sound, but I turned the onboard soundcard off in BIOS.

The Aardvark 24/96 has direct 1/4" inputs, so there is nothing between the break out box and my guitar. The break out box plugs directly into the sound card.

No conflict flaggs in device manager either. Windows says the device is working properly.

Thanks for any help..

According to Aardvark's website:

Via : Via chipsets have a history of PCI throughput problems, adversely effecting many high end PCI devices. In most cases, they will work with our products, but we are unable to guarantee optimal performance. The VIA K8T800 chipset, found on some 64 bit AMD machines, is not compatible with our products.

Try taking out the Promise controller as well (perhaps you could partition the drives to use all 160gigs). It has caused me much grief in my system until I took it out.

Well I took the Promise Card out and nothing changed.
It could be the via chipset, but both of my computers have VIA and the sound card was working (well partially) on the other computer. I just couldn't get the inputs to work.

Well, I guess I'll just have to use my other computer with this soundcard until I can find something. But does anyone know why the inputs are not picking up any signal? Is there a setting in the controlpanel I am missing?
