I need help! My layla soundcard is acting up, and i don't know if its a repairable problem. As i was working on a session, my computer just cut off, and my monitor went black. After I got the monitor to respond, my layla wasn't giving me any sound. After I took my soundcard out, everything worked fine; put it back in and same damn problem; computer would just cut off, and wouldn't cut back on until i removed the soundcard.

Is this the sign of a "burnt" soundcard, and is it possible to repair? Because the fact that it's a Layla (discontinued product), it's almost impossible to find a soundcard for it. It took me almost 3 weeks to find the soundcard i have, and i had to buy the interface as well, even though i had an interface already.

This could be a very enormous set-back, so is there any way to repair soundcards, or do i have to buy a whole new card and/or interface?

What should I do?!?!?!?! :( :( :(

Your PCI slot might have gone bad, try another one....thats all I can think of right now.

Could also be a marginal power supply. That said, my money is on a short circuit somewhere between the supply rail and the ground. Does that interface have an outboard box? If so, there might be something wrong with the cable between the card and the outboard box....

Even though the Layla 24/96 has been discontinued, Echo still offers support for it. Get in touch with them.

This is what ive done.

Ive tried another slot, that's not it. It still does not work. Ive taken my hard drive over to a friends that knows a little more about the computer areas than i do. We connected some of MY components to THEIR stack, no problem (video card, hard drive, etc).

Dgatwood? Are you refering to the actual interface cable that hooks my outboard interface to the computer tower, or the power supply itself, from the layla interface?

Madaudio, i don't think that's the same piece. My layla reads its a 20-bit interface, and i really dont know if echo has a layla 24 bit interface or not. If they do, then i believe these are two different interfaces respectively. When I went to echo's web for the drivers (bought it off of ebay), i was having a huge difficulty downloading them (like the problems im having with downloading the drivers for the alesis mm16). I never got a response from echo's product support when i left them info about my problems with my layla. But im gonna go and check right now and see if they can offer any assistance, but i kinda doubt it. Cause my layla had a frayed cord when i got it and they said they couldn't replace it becuse it was a discontinued model.

If anyone else has anymore suggestions and/or advice, it would be greatly appreciated. On the layla problem, or the mm16 downloading troubles. (It says i need a "sdk." type of file or system to download and/or use the mm16. But when i go to the page that has this extension, it looks to be close to 100 or more downloads, many with this ext. name, but like 10 or 15 different versions. Which one is the right one? I don't wanna use precious memory trying to download them all, Y'know?)

Ah, yes, that's an older model. I just assumed you had the 24/96.
