A WE Microphone

can anyone tell me what kind of mic this is? I picked this up the other day and hanging in a kick it sounds fantastic.

I could say that it is somethng from Western Electric, but, that would be incorrect. In reality it's an upside down mic by 3M. ;) I suspect it's a dictation mic, something that they made a bunch of.

just wanted to find out. It's sick on the kick. Basically got it for free hahaha it happened to be in a box when i bought an Electro Voice 664 from them, they didnt know.
Anyway, muchas gracias.
 
Is it an XLR hook up or is there a cable permanently attached?
 
I'm betting it has a permanently-attached connector, either TS 1/4" (which would mean it's originally was sold with a 3M Wollensak 1/4" open-reel tape deck, or TRS 1/8", which means it most likely originally sold with a 3M Wollensak casssette deck.
