a tune

movement 1, very cool key runs, kinda jazzy in a way but not really.

movement 2 Almost a Satriani feel for me here That change at 1:24 is very cool, it is really on the money but that second guitar voicing you use has a boominess to it that is making the mix muddy. The first voicing sounds great.

movement 3 - This music is making me think of that Indian that cries when he sees litter. Good way to wrap everything up, nice work overall. Better go find mixmkr and give him his fix.

Again.. I can't comment on the mix that much with these crappy headphones.

Is this REALLY you Sam? :O You could have fooled me until the little guitar solo-thingy there. The intro sounds very beautiful. The changeover from intro to the more rocky part was expected. I think you should have made some kind of different thing there. Make the transition less predictable. I mean, it's only predictable because I sometimes know what to expect from you in terms of song arrangement. The melodies here were NOT expected though. This sounds very different from your usual stuff. There's some old Commodore64 type sounds there. I love those :D I think this needs a bit of work to make it smoother, but your building blocks are top notch here. Try to fit in a few bridges :D

thanks for the quick feed!

I guess this is just another string of ideas that I tried to make sound halfway decent.. one day I'll try to build actual songs out of these.. I mixed at a lower volume than normal so I probably didn't catch the boomyness.. damn.. I'm getting worse! :D thanks again for the word..

Well sam... if something's there later, I'll hit it from home :D

This is very interesting. I agree that it has some cool ideas but sounds more like they were cool independant ideas forced together to create a song. I really like the eerir part where the synth voices are really low and the rythym guits are banging away. I think that the effected guitar in the beginning is over effected. It almost has a woofy bass sound to it. othere than that everything sounds ok. The end seemed a little outta place as well. You sound like a pretty good keyboardist.

I'm like mix now, the world just aint in harmony without a Sami tune each week! Kool idea's man, didn't care much for the intro stuff the first listen, but it's growing on me now:) . 1:25 everything just explodes! I agree with some other's...guitar seemed to have a little "woofy bass" in a spot or two, but not that bad. Thanks dude I needed that:) ...now, what about some VOX!!!!!!!!! from you?

David>>>>>puff..puff..puff*****

8-5 mix2

The song has a very progressive rock feel to it. That said, I like it! Mixing seems pretty good, drums sound clear and the instruments sit pretty well as I can hear them individually even on these crappy PC speakers.

Damn! Just reviewed this, and the server barfed it up...

Ok... here we go again ...

Hey... some "acoustic" samicide! :D (almost) ... jazzy lounge piano... I LOVE that gtr thing/whammy during that... please DONT put reverb on that. Sounds PERFECT dry as a bone like that.

You're an underrated piano player... we've gotta start making a bigger deal out of that, here!

Ah... big... large... jungle animal starts running and dragging us along with it... screaming :D (The clomp, clomping sound & the screaming lead...)

Really cool stuff again.

Nice fade/out....

Any chance we'll see you in CT? It would be cool as hell to "BS" with you, "B.S." ;) (B.SABBATH).

Lookin out the window at the trees shakin in the breeze while listenin'. Good vibes. I love the chord riffs. profound statement in the chords. The voices are happenin'. I still haven`t figured out that deep cinematic theatrical curve you got on the master eq or combinations of the indies. It just perplexes the hell out of me... Loved the tones from the synth and the stuccatto piano sounded prertty authentic. The bow sounds really good, not as bright as I`d like it in the 2nd movement. It just seems it would be a really tuff learning curve for a lot of folks to control it like yu got it, much tougher than slide. The drums are big and sweet. Bass sounds are rich and oily. The dark empty spaces are clean. I found a little bit of wrestling going on at about 170 with low guit strings, bass, and voices.

Awesome tune. Craving a little more definition, maybe through gain, in the guitar the trades off with the synth through the end of the 2nd part.

Nice textures throughout, but expecially in the third movement. I'm hearing a shitload of that Vai you've been listening to. Not a bad thing IMO.

Maybe you could record something I could sing on? While you figure out your apt. arrangement. There were moments in this my mind started layering deep chants, but not like Satanic or anything. Well, maybe a little Satanic, but not really.

Anyway, great stuff. Glad to hear it.

Cool and original as always Sam......I like the NPR piano against the rage guitar.....an interesting juxtaposition.......seems like you're starting to delve more and more into less structured sound pictures. I like that a lot.
Very cool sounds.......I think you're instrumentals are starting to have a film score quality.......nice!

That's exactly what I got....a bunch of cool ideas...not really meant to be together...all the music is super cool man...

ya oughta call it bits and pieces...

Great production man...good performance all around too..
The music at 1:23 to 2:15 was my favorite bit...
lot's of energy and excitement there...very cool,
Joe

very texured piece........perfect for a laser light show:D

Nice one Sam,

Diggin that acoustic huh.
Sounds pretty good DI'd.

I like the way you set the clean piano with the hard E-bow/electric git was it?
I don't think Ive ever heard you do something like that before.

Adding the acoustic and clean piano against the heavy gits/synth really brings your music to a new place, interesting contrast.

Sounds really good,
Pete

wow

Well, Walter Tore has been rubbing off on you ? ;-)
The beginning has a touch of Groucho's sonic qualities also.

00:20, I like that guitar sound ... sounds like dobro with a voice bag ?

This is fascinating.

The piano is just mixed perfectly, nestled in the middle kind of.

I thought that was probably going to happen at 1:23, but only because your reputation preceeds you.

Nice use of ahhhh oooo samples.

Sounds spectral ... soundtracky ...

Like maybe a bunch of supplicants filing into the base of an illuminated pyramid.

At 2:25 ... the poor supplicants are being 'examined' by the ...

Reminds me of what a modern ballet might be like ... from some tiny asian island nation ...

You've been licking your little brother's frogs again ... haven't you young man !

I would have to call this a 'tone poem'. It's brilliant.

And it is a keeper for my collection, thank you very much, very ... sam ...

Thanks for the link, Sam.

Yeah, I really like it. I play mp3s in Cool Edit, so I see the waveform even before I hear the song, so I knew you're were gonna do that great big guitar blast partway through the song, but I didn't know this one was gonna sound this different. It's really good, really different material. It could be a song. It could be a contender! LOL

So, when's it gonna be a song? You've been posting a lot of instrumentals, and song ideas, but no songs. I've got a theory about how you can change your music by changing your life - you sculpt the music by 'sculpting' your life - one follows on the heels of the other. So, what's the change you need to make to get the songs moving toward completion?

Fulfillment. Mm-mm! Yes!

about time!!.. actually, I was thinking of how to construct a post describing how much I think Blue Bear Sound is the biggest internet prick I know (thankfully I am on his ignore list and he won't read this...phew!!), and along comes your song. Dashes my thoughts about the prick..(well, I did type a little...thanks for letting me vent in your thread...lol!).

I could tell you to tighten the bass, more solos..all that crap, but the next fellow to come along will just have more opinions that would probably just conflict with my ideas....so...I'll abandon those comments for now. I love the heavy section, and for what it's worth...not commenting on how well you sing or not, I could take instrumentals from you all the time. Vocals aren't really needed that much in music for me. I prefer instrumental music much of the time.

Do you speed up the piano somehow..? It seems to sound that way, either in the way you play your little "tinkling" runs...or maybe just the register you play them in. oh well... That was ok..but I like the blaster sound with the choir. That's always been a fav of mine that you do.

I remember telling you that your songs always had these song forms..A B C C D...etc.. and you didn't link the sections well together.. I suppose this could fall into that catagory too... but after 20 songs later, I see that it doesnt really matter. This is what you do, and you do it best around here...putting ideas together. I have "grown" to like the sudden changes, and recognize that as a style of yours. Not a compositional problem.

Hey...thanks for the fix... even though I think Blue Balls still is a prick, I think your music kicks butt.

dont ask me why I'm talking about Blue nuts... I guess I just finished reading a Zeke thread in the cave in which the "know it all" tried to tell Zeke how to grow up... !! I'm just in one of those moods, that I want to kick someone in the nuts, and Blue Fuck is the first person that came to my mind. I'd love to do it with your music blasting in the background!!... I'd grab an axe... another hit of whiskey...

Look out...I'm gonna get "Lt Bob" drunk!!!! Maybe even put on some Harvey Gerst headphones and ....naw...I didn't order those pieces of shit...

Sammy...I know my posts sometimes entertain you...so I thought I'd add a little extra to this one with a "mood" ha!!!

take care bud... hope you're enjoying your new digs.

hey...what ever happened to you getting a website and ditching Nowhere? Sounds like a plan.

oh...btw...I'm getting better on the banjo. My ebow isn't getting much use. I thought I could "cop" some phrases from you with it, but decided I'd rather play bluegrass banjo for the time being. The ebow doesn't work on the banjo.... I tried it;)

oh well...

time to tell everyone that I love them... even Dobro. His music is fun.

Blue tits.... naw... you don't post music, so I don't like you!

so...maybe you could PM and tell me "exactly" what patches you use on your choir sounds! I won't tell anyone. I'll just copy them and play it for my friends around here... it won't leave the neighborhood... honest!

I like your music best around here. Your leads and melodies are the best. Others record well, but your music is best. Or at least I think so.

So...with that in mind... I repeat, since the music does it for me, I could care less if you posted this in the mic forum and how you mixed it. It was just a fix...that I just shot into my temples. I think I am well now.. thank you... aaaaaaaaah aaahhaha aaah...

feels soooooooo goood.
