Hey guys,

I just wanted to pick your brains for mix suggestions on this tune.

My usual concern is the low end as my listening environment sucks, but i *think* this one is tamed...might even be too low.

I will eventually be replacing fake drums with real.

Thanks!

Sounds like it was inspired by Nilsson. Very reminiscent of his work.

Good performance all around. I thought the vocals were a little high for this song (seems like you would want the softer). Just as a curiosity question, this song seemed to use a lot of compression, is this correct? (Everything seemed pushed up)

Good stuff.

Hey DM60! Thanks for the time to listen.

I think any similarities to Harry Nilsson is a coincidence, but it might be locked away in my brain somewhere. I'm revisiting this song, and I think it was recorded right after i got my UA 4-710d, so I think I was overdoing the compression. I don't know if it's a lot or not...does it sound a little heavy? I actually have two different versions of this song. the other is faster and more "rappy", but I felt this one captured the lyrics the way I wanted.

Thanks for checkin' it out!
Cheers!

To me it is just personal thing, I would take a song like this and want softness and loudness, more dynamics as it just seems this type of song requires it as a part of the song. It wasn't done bad, it just didn't seem to be as tender and natural as I was expecting due to the subject matter.

There was nothing bad, I was just wondering if I could trust my ears. I am still learning as well.

I would like to hear the bass a little more. Maybe compressed too much? Really like the song.

Hey guys! Sorry...went away on a long vacation...just got back.

DM60: I'll take a look at my compression to make sure I'm not killing it.

JLONDON: I agree. my basic setup for bass was not taking into account a different bass. Thanks!

Great production all around, cool song. The bass seems too quiet, not bass-y enough though.

Quite a bit of sibilance and an overall lack of low end. Those are the two things that stand out with the mix.

I think the sibilance can be fixed easily enough by backing off on the compression. You mentioned this already, so looking forward to hearing a 2nd version.

Great performances and good song writing.
Enjoyed the listen.
