it's called "Work it Out"......

it's a fairly short number, kinda gets to the point quick.

i thought i had the bass nailed in the mix, and now i don't think so.

probably another good argument for getting some real monitors.....

it sounds ok on my home stereo, will you guys that have "REAL" systems tell me what's happening with my low end?!!

I don't have a great stereo, but I thought the bass could have used a bit of a boost. It sounded kind of lost in the mix.

I liked your vocal sound, and the guitar playing was good. Just needs a bit more bass.
 
Where are the drums?:)A song this heavy needs a drum mix that is just as strong as the rhythym section.Good song,kinda 80's but still good.

nice guitar playing! I would liked to have heard this with better drums and more bass... a song like this should have better drums... fairly rockin! :cool:

thanks for the compliments on the voice/gtr...... this bass thing bugs me, i thought i had it nailed.....

well, i'm convinced now that my perception of what's happening with the bass/low end is not correct.....

i wonder if simply turning the track volume is enough, or whether it's a particular frequency that is just not coming through.....

yeah, i like heavy drums too.... maybe i just need to program a completely different sounding kit, and try again....

i'm curious.... just what exactly is it that makes this song "kinda 80's"? that comment is baffling, but i am curious..... i mean, i played it in the 2000's!! ;)

thanks again. with your kick ass system, can you determine frequency issues? i guess i want as much meat out of the bass sound as i can get, versus ultra low clean frequencies.....

First blush...

So, I've only listened a couple times, but here's my $0.02...

First...great guitar work, nice vocal sound.

Now, some structural comments...I don't know that I love the vocals coming in immediately. You've got some great guitar work...a nice opening riff. I wanted to hear that a few times by itself, maybe with just a little of the tambourine as percussion. Let the vocals come in on top of that after a couple of those phrases. Then, you can bring in more percussion as the first verse progresses, a full drums with your "Let's work it out" chorus. This might let the song build. As it is, it starts out in your face and just kinda stays there.

I agree with the other comments on the bass/drums. I think a more agressive drum pattern would do this song justice. This could be a really rockin' tune.:)

about the vocals coming in right off the bat.....

when i first programmed the drum trax, i had 2 measures of lead in.....

then when i listened to it, it seemed so obvious......
and that's something i've been trying to work out of my writing style.....

but, i like the idea you have of starting out with just a line or 2 of percussion, then kicking it in with the full kit..... i think that's probably a much better way of introducing the rhythm.....

good food for thought.

i may try to re-do that this weekend, though i have another project on the back burner already.....

would anyone care if i posted the second version.....kinda a/b it against each other?

boy, i'd love a real drummer to work with.....
