Has anyone seen/used these mixers before? It's a Fender MX-5200 mixer....16 channel, 2 mons, 4 auxs, 4 subs, 100mm faders, etc, etc....
I just picked it up for a lot less cash than a comparable Mackie 16 channel, and I think it actually has more features too.... ie. headphone out, control room out, 2 para eqs switchable, a bunch of cool LEDs:D , BNC for lights, plus all the inserts, direct outs, and ya gotta love the 100mm fadars over the 60mm dinkies. Everything works great, no scratchy pots, and I think it'll be a great little remote mixer or submixer....
So...I think I want the 32 channel version which they also made. Supposedly, they went for around $2grand when they came out, but Mackie's prices, when their mixers hit the market, forced Fender to discontinue...supposedly. On the used market, these Fenders seem like the cats meow....

anyone else seen these rare beasts?

Yeah- I have an appreciation of the beauty inherent in a 100mm slider. Or 18 of 'em.

So how much did you pay? Except for the sub busses, this is very similar to an Allen & Heath Mix Wizard 16:2. And how do the pres compare to the Mackie? Not only in noise floor but gain range.
The MixWizard has 6 aux sends per channel, 4 EQs and a 100Hz filter. The components are top notch.

$500...maybe a deal...maybe not..but I'm happy

compared to a Mackie...I must say, it has to be on even ground. I think the Mackies are good, but don't just blow away all the preamps in other mixers either...like the mix wizard for example. It looks a hell of alot cooler than a Mackie...I must say:D

I just liked all the routing features, sounds good to me, so I bought it! I'm not really all that picky about equipment anyway....

I bought that exact mixer about 6 years ago for a church install. It has always worked great for them, and seems to be very quiet. It doesn't get used in a recording environment, though, so I'll be interested in your results.

As far as price, they were running $1500 in the stores when we bought it. But Fender was doing some kind of non-profit special for churches and schools at the time and we got it for just under a grand, I think. I'd probably pick up another for $500. The only thing is that it's heavy for 16 channels!
