A quickie

Here's a little tune I put together over the last couple of days (minus the vocals) - probably sounds like 100 other songs, but
I was playing around with a new little ditty and came across this groove. Both of the guitars are first takes - the snare and high-hat are live - the rest is canned. I have to go back and re-cut the toms/percussion track because there is more noise than I'd like and there are a few rough spots.
I need some feedback on the mix as I'm monitoring with headphones for now & I'm not used to this much instrumentation in my mixes :) http://www.xdrive.com

Hey jimbo... I thought in general it sounded really good although I can only listen to it thru headphones and crappy computer speakers. Just a few points however. Firstly it might be nice to pan your guitars. To me they sounded pretty much in the middle and with two different guitar parts happening it might sound nice to have the separated in the stereo field a little bit... not too much but just enough.

Secondly, I don't care much for that snare sound. I personally would stick to a more traditional sounding snare... but if your cool with it then stick with it.

I like the arrangement a lot! Man you get a great sound! I'd agree with Coop about the snare, but everything else sounds great.

I've already taken the comments on the snare sound to heart and have re-worked it. I'm also going to take Cooperman's advice on the guitar and open up the slide a bit to get more separation. I'll do that tomorrow when I re-work the rest of the percussion. Now I've just got to get some inspiration for lyrics. :) When I get things finished I'll repost the changes (hopefully with some vocals.)
