So...after doing quite a bit of reading around here, I have been thinking about picking up a Yamaha MG102 to help me get my feet wet in the home studio biz. My question is for those of you who may have heard of or used the Soundcraft "Powerpad":
http://www.soundcraft.com/product_sheet.asp?product_id=3

The Yamaha retails for $99 whereas the used Soundcraft would be around $160 - who do you choose? I have read a lot of good stuff about the MG102 from here, but I've also read nothing but wonderful critiques of Soundcraft gear...so...

Thanks in advance.

You can get a new Soundcraft Compact 10 for 160. I think its a way better mixer and way more flexible than the yammi. I have owned both BTW and sold the yamaha.

The Compact has a dedicated record bus and 2 head phone channels so it is a real good front end for a DAW

why spend the extra money for the powered board (power amp for PA speakers??)..???.........check out the non-powered spirit folio.........you could get more channels/options...for a similar price.....
