Hello,
I've just bought a zoom H4n pro to do a series of interviews for professional broadcast.
I want to record myself and the interviewee using two lavalier mics.
I've just bought two rode lavalier go professional lapel mics from amazon.
I want to use the XLR connecters at the bottom of the zoom and I'm going mad trying to work out what I need. I'm guessing need two female xlr to male 3.5mm connectors
But there seems to be all these warnings around saying things like "don't think you can just plug in a rode lavalier into the XLR and get it to work..."
Please can you tell me what to buy!
(I'm in England btw if that makes a difference to what's available to purchase).
THANK YOU!

Now, I know peeps here say I do this a lot! But, there are guys over at soundonsound.com that are always answering questions like this. Actual reporter/interviewers some of them.
A lot of this kit is pretty expensive, want to get it right!

Dave.

Send the mics back and get some with XLR connectors. The hassle of trying to make the wrong mics work isn't worth it when you can get mics that are made to plug straight into your recorder.

The xlr to 3.5 barrels that do 48v to 5 volt work pretty well, but absolutely NOT just a connector changer. Its got to be able to do the voltage adjustments from phantom to hot power, i.e. power on the audio conductor.

Get the jack to XLR adapters from Rode. I don't think standard 3.5mm to jack is the same thing.

I used them all the time but I never brought mine separately.

All rode jack to XLR are the correct size
