A question about the MR8

Hello,

I'm looking long and hard at the MR8. I've got one question about it: can I copy measures of a track to save disc space? I'd like to import "dummy" beats that I create in Reason, just to play guitar along with, into the MR8. Ideally, I'd like to have several dummy beats, at various bpms, on the CF card, so that no matter what tempo a song I was working on was, I'd have a beat handy. The only way to do that, given the space limitations of the CF card, is if I could import only one measure of the beats into the MR8, and copy that measure several times, without it taking up extra card space. Is this possible?

Thanks,

Almost like a "pointer" the beat bars? It's a great idea to keep those stored on a card, to be pasted in where needed, but if you need 3 minutes worth, for example, that's going to take up 15MB worth of card space, or whatever the amount is.

Sounds like what you are talking about is if you have a one bar pattern that you want to use for an eight bar verse, you'd like the system to reference that one bar eight times, instead of copying it, and using up eight times as much card space?

Yeah, that. Can the MR8 do that (and do it more than 8 times?)?

it has MIDI out. So you could synch. A loop function would be nice, but I didn't see it. There is cut and paste, but I'd have to look that up too. If you have enough card mem, you could loop them and leave them large, but you'd have to put them as parallel tracks all on the same song folder. maybe you could move them once you wanted to keep one. But not sure yet if you can pop a track from one song folder to a new one. I'll look in the man this wekend.

it's Friday night, go out and support local live music. Even if it sucks :)
