well, this is a dead-ringer for the original, which can't be easy to do. everything: the guitar tone, bass texture, and drums are right on the money.

the mix also sounds perfect to me, and while i'm not apc's biggest fan, i really dig tool and this song is definitely one of their 3 best. really, nice job man! i hope your friend is up to the task of sounding EXACTLY like maynard!!! :D:eek:

i guess my only small nit is that i'm assuming the drums were programmed, and i'm just whining as a drummer who doesn't care for machines. either way, you programmed them extremely well and were faithful to the song. if they really are real drums, then kudos on the clarity and performance, but how'd you get them to sound so sterile? :D

Sounds very very good. No complaints here, really. Nice job!.

thanks for the encouragement guys, really appreciate it :)

dross:

The drums are actually live acoustic drums mic'd and played by me. I posted the raw drum tracks in the Drums and Percussion section a while back and got the same response

most people seem to think its a drum machine! i also dont care for drum machines at all, and my whole goal for this project was to not use any drum replacement at all, no samples no nothing, just 100% my mic'd kit.

not sure what you mean by the sterile sound thing, perhaps thats just from a lot of processing?

Sounds great here. I don't know the original, I like it is good

HOLY CRAP!

dude, your skills on both sides of the glass are remarkable to say the least. BIG HUGE FRIGGING UPS TO YOU!!!!!!!!!

sorry i made the assumption. i think the "sterility" of it comes in with your precision and just very very clean recording. wow, i'm humbled.

heh thanks a lot dross :)

this has definitely been the best project ive done so far, and hoping that i'll keep improving
