Hello fellow-recordists,

MP3.com has just posted my most recent
song and I'd like to get some feedback
on it.

It was recorded entirely with CEP 1.1
and a RODE NT-1 microphone, and I play
the following on it: Drums, Bass,
Guitars, Piano, Percussion, Synth,
Sleigh Bells, Ld. Vox, Bkg. Vox.

The song is called 'Asphalt and Glasses'
and it was written and recorded on the
night of Dec. 8, 2000 - twenty years to
the day that John Lennon was killed.

The song is moody and it builds slowly,
so it requires some patience. But I
think the atmosphere that is developed
is worth the wait. At least I'd be
curious to see what you, my fellow
colleagues, think of it.

Please, if you have a moment, trip on
over to http://www.mp3.com/jasonrubero
and let me know what you think about
'Asphalt and Glasses'.

Cheers!

Nice song.....I was chilling back and listened to it without movement...... I would say you did this well......there are some nice moments.......very cool vocal harmony...

the things that I don't like about it would probably be personal preference......

I'm more into the 'Abbey Roads/White album/Sgt.Peppers vibe myself...but this sounds really good at times....like maybe "Julianish'...I dont really know but I listened to it twice now..... and that's what I was thinking.....

nice job....I REALLY like that vocal harmony at the end..... I was REALLY wanting more of THAT....... :D

nice song...and considering its intent......VERY GOOD JOB:cool:

You did this with just one Rodent?

Another testimonial to that microphone.

Nice clean recording.

And the vocal melodic/backing style was a nice tribute.

killer production.
nice 'verbed tamborine...............
fanfriggintastic tremelo gtr.
nice solo gtr.
nice waaaaaait on the drums...

The weak part, unfortunately is the solo singing I think...but well done still. The harmonies make it much nicer.

all newbies should listen to this, and realize you don't need to play your guitar from beat one, to the fade out.

Thanks for listening

Thanks for listening with such attention to detail. After all the time I put into little production twists and turns, it is great to hear other people pick up on them!

Cheers,

Nice job. Very clean recording. I like the dynamics of the different instruments that you've woven in throughout the tune, it really keeps it interesting. It's a very nice tribute. This song reminds me a lot of Baby Bird.

Dude!

You knew someone with my handle would like this!

I thought the lead vocal was fine - nice Lennonesque double-tracking on chorus, heh heh. I think you could sharpen up the pitch on your vocal "slides," but overall a nice sound.

Tremelo guitar is nice! Lyrics very cool. And nice horns - are those horns?

I think the song is a bit long -- I'd trim a bit from the pre-harmony part.

Overall, EXCELLENT work - particularly the ending!
