the song is "Mates of the Soul"

the drums are lame, and so i'm re-programming on a new machine.....

but i'm interested in your take on the arrangement, the melody lines, and the recorded sounds of the guitars and bass.........

all guitars were recorded through a mesa boogie into a celestion into a 57 into a tascam 688.

bass was through the boogie as well.

i'm redoing it all into a vs880ex.

It's hard to improve on excellence . . . leave it alone . . .nice textures with enough changes to make it interesting but not overdone . . . tasty

BBALL......
thanks for the listen. if you think the arrangements' strong enough to leave, that's cool... but i know you've got to agree with me about the lame drum programming, and the awful reverb on it.......
i wonder if recording a track dry would work....... or if i need the reverb to give it some dimension.......

also, while you're possibly "at it", please listen to another oldy i sampled into the computer, that i'd really like to re-do......

i want to make the acoustic guitars much hotter, the distorted rhythms much lower, and the drums much drier......

it's called "lost my pipe on black diamond", and it's a true story ;)

Hey Gonzo -

The drums on the track I hered didn't make a difference . . . you did . . . follow your heart and instincts . . . you've a talent . . . count on it . .

Nice tune and very melodic playing. I like the mix of clean guitar and distorted. I would like to hear more tension in the guitar melody lines...mix in some faster lines with the slower melodic lines...just my personal two cents.

I liked the song! Good work. Love the Boogie sound.
