Didn't hear the first version.

When I heard the intro...which is great, I was expecting more great...then the way over-compressed rest came in. That's the main thing. Too much compression. Especially the vocal. Threshold setting, especially, is whack!

Sounds eerily familiar to Kokomo by The Beach Boys.

Agreed with the squashed drums and vocal. Nice mix.
