A "master" track in Cakewalk?

I was watching a promotional DVD for digi001, and one of the features they explained was a "master" track.

One of the advantages was that you can add various envelopes to this master track and have it apply to the entire project. This was nice for things like if you wanted the song to fade out at the end, etc.

How do you do the same thing in Cakewalk? I'm running Home Studio 2002.

I submix to a stereo track in Sonar keeping it at 24 bit. Then I archive all but the master stereo track. I use this 24 bit track with a mastering plug-in and include fade outs. Final step is dither to wav for burning. Does this order make sense?

Why would you use mastering software on 16 bit when you can do it in 24?
 
To answer the original question...

You can't do it in Cakewalk. Pro Tools and Digital Performer both have this master or orchestrator track which you can use for many things, but I know of no other software that has that function.

It seems to me that you can do this using Sonar's Virtual Mains.

You have the ability to apply volume/pan envelopes, patch effects, etc., within the Mains. These modifications would apply to all the tracks that are routed to that particular Main (which in normal circumstances is ALL the tracks). Sounds pretty much the same to me as a "mastering track".
