Rusty Romance did a gig on Friday night in a big granite shed. I tracked and mixed building with one FOH send and an ambient mic to an AKAI DPS16 and then transferred the two tracks panned hard R and L to the DAW in Reaper. I doubled the FOH send twice and eq'd each to bring out a bass track and a vocal doubling track, panned for some separation and used successive light compression and limiting when rendering to two tracks. A hard limiter and hiss reduction was then applied in Adobe Audition 2.0, followed by conversion to .mp3.

I'm wondering about eq issues with the electric guitar, which is a little heavy on the ears. This really grew during the successive compressions. As this part was not mulititracked, I'd have to modify it by frequency specific tricks. Any ideas?

Link is to NWR album page. The tune is That Old 603.

Thanks for listening and for any ideas...!!

Sounds pretty good to me Glen. I have no specific mix ideas, as I still just play around with stuff till I'm tired of it... :D

Sounds like it was a fun show though...nice tune.

The bass is pretty boomy. Maybe some bottom cut & boost definition around 3Khz. Has a nice feel to it - can't hear the bass drum for the bass though.
Good recording & performance.
