Hello,

So...I posted this in the newbies forum along with other questions but this little bit still remains unanswered so I thought I should try my luck in this part of the forum.

I planned to buy the iMultimix 8 USB as I am setting up a small recordeing space in my home soon. I didn't have the knowledge or the foresight to know all the equipment needed as I have always recorded at other peoples studios (but I got sick of paying top money for crappy recordings done in a short space of time).

So my question to you guru's out there is:

Do I still need to buy a soundcard/interface like the Line 6 UX1 if my iMultimix is going to be plugged into my laptop via USB.

My reckoning is that if it is a USB peripheral then it should have a soundcard/interface built in.

I have googled and googled until my google got sore but I just don't understand enough of the jargon to know what's what.

Thanks in advance.

You're probably better off with something else; IIRC, most of the USB mixers only do two channels of audio. Better to get something that can bring those 8 channels into your computer individually.

i'm with Dg on this.... the usb's basicly allow you to do a 2 trk mix... so if ya want to get a sense of the whole band live that's great... or if you're only need to record 2 trks at a time... there may be some of the newer usb's that do more though so check that sucker out before ya spend your hard earned...
