arite i have a garage band and just starting off but i wanna record my stuff. im on a low budget and im gonna get all my stuff used. i got one question tho... what the hell do i need to get? does anyone know all the things required to record drums, guitar, bass, and singer all onto one cd?

No offense, but that's not a little question. I suggest you do some serious reading if you are truely that clueless. This site is loaded with information.

How much money are you willing to spend?

Are you looking to record analog or digital? Are you intending to use your pc?

Do you have anything outside of instruments for gear? Mics?

That is a lot to try and answer right there. And I've just touched on it a little bit. Perhaps you should rethink your question, read some on this site, read the home recording home page some more, and then try to ask something a bit more specific.

1. Pre amps

2. Mics

3. Instrument cables, XLR cables, RCA cables

4. A recording medium (digital or analog) The cost varies depending on how you go, and how many tracks you want to record at once.

5. Outboard effects units: Reverb, compressors, guitar effects, vocal effects (all can be done inside a recording software, but sound better if they are outboard units).

This again, is the tip of the iceburg.

Good luck and welcome to the board.

thanks... ya iv done some reading and i know the basics but im just a little lost. thanks tho... that was a help
