What's your thoughts/critique on these drums?

Also, i feel like the guitars are.... boring? I don't mind the tone, just something about them don't seem to have "it". Whatever "it" is. I hate to sound so naive, but a lack of professionality. I wish i could use a better term because I hate when people say "how can i make this more professional" Because its such a vague thing to ask. So forgive me for using that phrasing. I can just tell that SOMETHING seems to be missing from them.

(Not even touched mastering on this yet btw)

Anything will help. Thanks guys

Bloody hell that's brilliant! How long have you been playing the guitar and drums? I can't say much about the mixing part as I'm a newb but that's pretty damn impressive. What is your setup?

Hahahaha Ive been playing for 10 yrs now? Don't really remember exactly. Not NEAR as good as I wish i was, or should be. And sadly, i didn't write this little jam. Thinking about it makes me cry... I did however track all of it. Which was very fun. But this highschool kid is who wrote it. I'm going to record his band soon, so he sent me this in a tuxguitar tab file so I could track it and work on a mix before they come in and record. My jaw dropped, incredible writing, in my opinion. Idk if they will be able to play it solid for tracking, (my forte), but hell its good writing for a highschool kid

No one got critique for this mix?

Impressive. I have always been a fan of the kick in rock. Everything about the guitars are awesome, but I'm a drummer at heart. LOL! I love this piece, especially the solem ending.

Thank you so much! Well i felt the mix was too bassy, and i changed a lot about the drums. The kick is different and the snare. Cymbals have more sparkle as well. Whatcha think of this one?

tear it apart, i dont care. just need something! Having trouble getting the guitar and bass to glue as well :/

Way too bassy & the kick seems to be the lead instrument. Personally I loathe that kicks sound. The snare seems like an afterthought of someone banging on a cardboard box.
The guitar playing seems pretty good but the dterminedly generic tone/effects let the performance down to my ears.
Tame the kick, reorg the drums and get the kid to listen to King Crimson or someone else who has a monster guitar tone without using the "1 button deathmetal hammer device for under $100" cliche.

hahaha rayc, thanks for bein honest. i actually worked on the mix a bit, prior to reading this though. I got rid of the overly bassy sound in the kick, tamed it some and brought the snare more out. Let me know what you think now?
