a little help for a new guy - xp and soundcards

hey

i bought my dad an aardvark24/96 for his computer. i tried it out over christmas and liked it but I have windows XP and I think my dad has windows 98. Will I have problems if i want to use the aardvark on my pc? what are other soundcard possiblities if using the aardvark is a hassle? also what recording software works well with windows XP?
 
I would expext that buying hardware today you're more likely to get WinXP support than Win98 support. I know that Echo cards are supporting XP now. Not sure about software though......
