Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know that you can get a lot of feedback on your tracks at Mixposure. Our members have written over 35,000 reviews in four short months and are averagin 300 a day. It's Reviewer Appreciation Week so if you're looking for some feedback, come check it out!
Did I mention that it's free?

Hey mix...

I been trolling around your site & BBS and I like where you're going with the general idea. But as usual I got a beef. (hehehe)

Is it really a good idea to use the artists to rate each other? I can't see anyone giving a 100% honest opinion simply because they wouldn't want to get a bad review themselves in retaliation.

I've listened to some stuff and read some reviews, and to be honest, although the song overall is good, I've noticed a lack of skill in the mix and it shows... but all I see in the reviews is shiny happy "I loved it I give it a 9" etc...

If I had my stuff there for review, I wouldn't dare give an honest review simply because I wouldn't want to get trashed by whomever I critique. (OK That's not true - in reality I don't care, but the average person would...)

Besides, shouldn't someone be focusing on getting non-musicians to visit the site and do the reviews? Seems the atrists would get a more objective opinion...

I know what you mean. I would rather read a 1000 words bagging my song than 4 or 5 words gushing about it just to sound nice.

By, the way, I have not seen the site the fella suggests, so, I am not having a go at him, or the site.

Hi gents,

Believe me when I tell you that not all of the reviews are gushing. :)

Oi Eurt ... get your ass back in the rep point thread.

Sorry everyone else! :D

I know man. All i ever get from people is that it sounds good, or I liked it. I want to know how to make it better. If I didn't think it was good then I wouldn't have finished it in the first place. Please someone tear apart my songs damn it!

Yeah, that's right. Disappointing site when you get into it, just a wankfest. You get much harder, ruder, direct and more helpful feedback in the clinic. Shame really.

I think it's cause of the reward system for giving reviews, generally a good idea in theory, problem is people are quick to say something nice so as not to cause a confrontation...

Hey gents, sorry that everybody liked your songs so much! :)

In all seriousness, I agree. I had hoped that the site would be more of a critque shop to take musicians to the next level. In some ways it still is, there are some great reviewers and some not-so-great reviewers on Mixposure. The end result is,..would you rather have two reviews telling you what's wrong with your song or have two reviews telling you what's wrong with your song and three more telling you what they liked?

Thanks for checking it out and for the feedback.

Yes, it was a very valid approach. Unfortunately many of the reviews are just done for the sake of posting reviews, as you in effect have to do to continue using the site. Having been to a number of open mics where participants take virtually no interest in anybody else playing, it's a tough job to get folk to play the game!

Personally I prefer a bad truth to a good lie anyday. :) I KNOW my stuff needs work (a LOT of work - mainly it's to do with the (lack) of equipment I have to work with) and although I haven't posted anything on your site (yet) I see a lot of sugar coating on those reviews I have read. But now that I've joined your site, rest assured I'll be brutal in my reviews. :D

Muahahahahahahaha! Seriously though. I won't be sugar coating anything I post. And I'll be sure not to post reviews for anything out of my "preference" range. Nothing worse than someone who doesn't even like RAP trying to write a review for a RAP song...

We have two songs up, somebody posted a very kind review of one, so I listened to his, thought little of it and said so...guess how his subsequent review of our second song was ;) :D

If I were to post my material, do I have the option to prevent it from being downloaded? I only want to allow people to listen to my songs via streaming, not downloading.

Each person just needs to be using two ID's. This is my artist id, and this is my reviewer ID, but the only person who knows they are the same person is me. That rhymed pretty good. I'm practicing lyrics too.

No, no, it's much more fun doing it my way. I think I'll go and slag off a few more artists now :)

Hey newbie guy here,Why can't we do the same thing on this page?
We can post tunes and "honestly"rate each other.

Howdy,

We canned the 1-10 ratings system and opted for four yes or no questions but the focus is still on the narrative.

Everybody has their own opinions. Some members take offense to anybody pointing out negatives within their music and others prefer it. Some members aren't thrilled about gushing reviews and others live for it. You'll get a variety of each on the site so it doesn't hurt to see what kind of reviews you get.

Thanks for the feedback.

And Garry,...please don't. :( :D
