All mics sound the same.
Long post.
I have a few issues that I've just been accepting and working around for a long time now and I need to get them resolved. I am using a Behringer XENYX1202fx into an M-Audio Delta 44 recording with Vegas Pro (the old original outdated Vegas Pro).
First of all, the Delta 44 disables my computer's onboard soundcard. That's fine except for the fact that I can't get the outs of the 44 box to produce stereo sound, i can only get left mono. I don't have monitors, I am using my 2.1 computer speakers for now. Of course that uses a stereo 3.5mm jack, and the outs of the 44 are TRS 1/4". I have tried adapters and Y cables and have not been able to get stereo sound out of it.
With the 1202fx I am having a hard time figuring out which output should be going to the input of the Delta 44 for recording. It has CD/Tape In, CD/Tape Out, Main Out, and Ctrl Room out. Currently the Tape Out goes into the 44, the Outs of the 44 go back to the Tape In, and I have tried putting my speakers on the Main Out (instead of the Outs on the 44 and still get left mono only), tried headphones on the Ctrl Room Out (get left mono only).
I'm never sure, though, which Outs on the mixer include the FX and which bypass it.
I would also like to find some plug-ins for the Vegas Pro software, but since it is so old, i'm not sure if there is any support. I wouldn't even know where to look or how to install plug-ins. If anyone has any experience with that program and has any advice, it would be welcome.
Also, I have read the manuals for all of these devices and don't find them to be all that helpful. They produce vague manuals that are supposed to cover a range of models, instead of model-specific manuals.
I think ideally I would have speakers on the Main Out, the 44 on the Tape Out/In, and headphones on the Ctrl Room, right? But I have to do a lot of moving cables around just to do simple tracking/monitoring/mixing and it shouldn't be that way. Thanks for your help, I'm kind of a dummy!
