Here it is folks, what I've narrowed it down to, would appreciate some feedback if possible. I'll be using the system with the Digi 001 and Pro Tools LE. The intent is use it as a basic preproduction setup so I can carry my "masterpieces" into pro-tools equipped studios.

Motherboard: Gigabyte 7VRXP KT333 w/LAN, Audio, RAID, UDMA 133, USB 2.0

Processor: AMD Athlon XP-2100+ [1.73 GHZ Quadraspeed]

Memory: 512 MB PC266 PC2100 DDR

Hard Drive: Seagate ST336704FC Cheetah 36.7GB 10000RPM Ultra-160 SCSI Fibre Channel

DVD ROM: 16X

CDRW: 48x16x48x

Again, any comments would be appreciated. Thanks muchly.

I dont see any problems with your system design, sounds like a powerful box that will handle the job well. Although I think the Digi001 and PT is more suited to Mac systems.

I do not see a recording drive in your setup... so you have 2 options... you can get another drive for your system(OS and progams) or use the Seagate for the system drive and get another dedicated recording drive...(i would choose the former)

another note:
the system you present will currently out-perform the fastest Mac made by about 3 fold...(that is until Digi releases PT le 6 with dual CPU support for the Mac) and even the the fastest mac machine will, at best, perform equal to your dream audio PC.

another note:
Mac user do have more plug-in support than PC PTle users (but is that worth it, considering you cannot use as many at once as the PC???)

Shred

Thanks for the replies. That's a good point shredfit. I was thinking I'd either get another, smaller scsi drive (15 gig or so) and use that as the main drive and this 36.7 gig as the recording drive. I'm doing a lot of juggling right now, i may not be able to use it for recording right away, but i think the dual drive route sounds like a plan. Thanks again folks

Fitzy...
That sounds good. I like how you use the words quadraspeed...Seagate...and Hard Drive. They make it sound really powerfull....hehehehe
