OK...
The CD's almost complete (& please...don't any of you blokes bust on me, now...I know I took way too long.) After it's release (sometime in early August) I was hoping to move up to the next A/D/A - Audio Interface level, grab a new PC workstation, etc., etc.
My existing AI is a Layla 24/96, which sports AKM converters (the 5383 & 4393)...but the console doesn't work so hot anymore & the sample rate jumps out of whack at DAW (SONAR) playback start (until it's reset at least once or twice.) Echo Audio doesn't support this unit any longer (they went to the 3G)...they did release one driver upgrade after product discontinuation, but it's a beta; & they basically say "proceed at your own risk".
I was toying with the idea of staying with Echo, but the Layla 3G runs Cirrus converters (the 4272); & I have no idea whatsoever if they're as good or better than the AKM's.)
Then I thought...maybe I should move up to the next level?
So...for running a WinTel project studio (PC based...XP OS...preference for PCI connectivity), where should I go from here?
&...of the various major mfg.'s (RME, Lynx, Apogee, Digidesign, E-mu, MOTU, Mytek, Benchmark, UA, etc., etc., who makes the converters in their units?
(forget about money for now...I'm just curious about quality & connectivity.)
Thanks,
