Basically i'm planning to put some KRK rokit 5 monitors in my crowded bedroom. I've got a couple of questions if someone would be kind enough to answer:
1) Would it be better to mount these to the wall or placed on a shelf (the shelf is a bit below shoulder height)
2) What should I consider for room treatment, if anything? There's plenty of info here for an empty box room but nothing (i can find) for a furnished room.
3) Obviously near field monitors require you to be "near" but how far is near? Or is it a speaker specific thing?
- I want to start using my bedroom for some mixing and critical listening, but i'm still a teenager with low expectations and a lower bank balance so cheap solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time :)
