I have two questions involving the s/pdif's of my VS880Vexpanded and my Audiowerk soundcard on my recently completed (finally!!!) music-only computer.(Thank you Evildick and Emeric and numerous others)
1) since I now have to completely re-arrange my studio space (i.e. corner of the basement) to accommodate my new DAW, I need to make and run new and different length cables (I much prefer to roll my own).
SO......I see that The Shack carries bulk 75ohm 16 guage cable for something like .32cents/foot.
Do I have to have specifically 75ohm RCA connector ends to make s/pdif cable??????
....Because I cant seem to locate them anywhere.
I kind of assume that you should have to maintain a consistent 75ohm pathway between s/pdif ins and outs....like a balanced signal......but the $14-for-3-ft RS packaged cords actually only mention that they use 75ohm cable, although the ends do look "fancy".
Anyway, question two.
What settings do I need to make inside my 880vex to accept an incomming s/pdif signal.
I was jonesing to dump some of my acid loops into the 880 so I hooked up the s/pdif out of my Audiowerk card to the s/pdif in of my 880 and set the acid mixer to play out of the digital outs and the input>track of track 1 and 2 to digital L and R and got n o t h i n g!!????
I now the soundcard werks cus I first hooked the analog outs to my monitor mixer and got some sweet sounding monitor interference mixed in with my amature loops.
I posted that here instead of at the ROLAND forum because this one gets WAY more traffic.....and I posted it at VSPLANET too....
So.....what to do ....what to do....???
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
-mike
