I have a friend who is a Martin dealer who just came back from the NAMM show and told us he had ordered a D-100, which are the limited edition guitars commerating the one millionth guitar.
The part I find really annoying about the thing is that, Martin tied up Larry Robinson (who is widely considered the countries best inlay artist) for a full year, on ONE guitar. It was just about impossible for those of us who use him to do our custom inlay on our guitars to get any thing out of him. Because we are regular customers, we managed to get three fairly simple fingerboards out of him, but if we had needed anything more than that, we were fucked. The only other guy I know of who cuts pearl that well is Grit Laskin (whose design sense is more in line with my own than Larry's), and he only cuts for his own guitars.
Grit is still far to busy for my tastes, but to get an idea of what he does, click on the cover of the new book on his inlay work HERE. THIS is even better. MORE. YET MORE. THIS ONE of Charlie Parker is perhaps the best piece of inlay work I have ever seen, and it is all cut by hand. LASTLY, his own websites inlay gallery. Grit is also a really fine songwriter and folk musician. Great work, just too fussy for my tastes. I don't even like face dots on my guitars.

Wouldn't do you much good, what with the bridge, neck, side, and the bar frets removed (try buying THEM from Jim Dunlop. Not gonna happen). Those bar frets are a major league pain too. We can only get them from Martin, and only in VERY limited quantities. You have to be a warranty center to get them.
