RE: Yamaha S90 goes directly into an M-Audio 2496 soundcard with Cakewalk Home Studio 2 XL software and onto a second HD in a Dell P750
Mates,
I find many of the internal sounds of the Yamaha S90 to be plausible, but the traditional pipe organ sounds" Sunday, Church, Reed, Fluty to mostly sound like they've been cobbled together from the accordion, harmonica, and bagpipes sounds. When they hear my recordings, friends make more comments on the asthmatic organ sounds than the music!
I've looked into the Yamaha PLG-150AP keyboard plug-in card, but these are expensive and still limited, many keyboard sounds but concentrating on pianos and mostly jazz and Hammonds and so on.
> Can you suggest a way to get a wide range- expandable?- of really good pipe organ sounds? Synth module? Software "virtual instruments"? I'm also after good harpsichord and harp sounds.
I've used this S90 quite a while- probably 2000+ hours of recordings, but have never done anything but record single tracks of the standard sounds to HD.
So, if you would, explain a bit about the way synth modules are used? Can I use any synth module with any MIDI keyboard? Use "generic" sounds/samples or are these all in proprietary formats? -- You can see I've only ever used 1% of the capabilities of the S90 and don't have a clue!
Thanks very much!
