Taking the slow road
it just has 1/4" in, volume, on/off and headphone out and jack for 9v in.

one small speaker. I've been telling someone how easy it is to find it and how it should be in every music store, then she goes and looks and they tell her it doesn't exist. Discontinued?

I think I paid $15 for it, but time flies and it may have been (cough) 10? years ago....

I think Musicians Friend still carries those, I've owned several, one like you mentioned, another that lookes like a mini Marshall half stack and a couple of Dean Markleys. Like your friend, I haven't seen them in stores lately, but I haven't been looking for one.

I just found something called a smokey. It's pretty cheap so I think I'll try it.

I saw the Marshalls and they're like 40 or $50, that's just wrong....

I have a similar Ephiphone one - I think it cost me $20 or $25. 1/4 inch in, volume, tone, and a little overdrive which is actually pretty good for the size :)

Also 9V operated with a DC input as well. I think they still sell those around.

I had one of the Fenders about 12 years ago. It was yellow with 4 little 1/4" speakers and it cost $25. I remember because it was my first amp. There are actually quite a few of those little battery amps now by Marshall, Fender, Danelectro, etc. Last summer me and a friend both bought one for playing at the beach. The Marshalls sound the worst and eat up batteries quick. The Fender (looks like a twin) sounds pretty smooth, kinda like a Marshall, and is decent on battery life; my friend paid $35 or $40 at a local music store. The Danelectro is real raunchy with a very cool overdrive and battery life is better than the Marshall but not as good as the Fender; I paid $20 at a local music store but it died after a few weeks. Another guy from the beach used a little amp that was credit card size and the batteries lasted forever, although it did'nt sound very good. Someone also makes the cigarette pack amps and I think it is actually the same as the credit card amp internally......play through your favorite pack of smokes.

I have the Marshall Microstack. Little fullstack. The sound isn't too bad, considering the crap speakers they put in. I like walking around the dorms with it attached to me somehow. People stare ^_^
