Just finished a new recording computer (it has problems)
Asus p4b533 mb
p4 2.4 533 fsb
asus cdrw - asus cdrom
delta 1010 cakewalk pro9
WINDOWS 98Se

Problem;
windows 98se doesnt support usb 2.0 (no drivers)
if I change to a newer os then cakewalk pro 9 may not be supported (right) ALSO for some reason the asus cdrw will not play back audio cd's or data cd's.
1. when I put a audio cd in the cdrw I get the error message;
DIGITAL AUDIO EXTRACTION ERROR
COMMUNICATION FAILURE
DO YOU WANT TO SAVE LOG FILE

2.when a data cd is put in the cdrw I get the error message;
E:\is not a valid win32 application

I am not concerned about the usb support but does this have any thing to do with the cdrw not working properly.
It will copy a cd from the cdrom drive. and it will reconogize the type of disk installed(audio-data)
all cables have been changed and all connections have been checked. anyone have a fix for this cdrw problem. thanks Tom T.

I cant see where USB would effect CD drives.
Did you build this system yourself ??
Maybe some config. problems going on.
I would upgrade to XP if it were me.
XP is so much better for driver support and compatability issues.

Does this mean anything to you?
I really don't think USB is your problem but just for your info....

That sounds like a driver problem. Maybe the wrong drivers for PCI buss system or something. I had some weird problems like that once because of a sloppy instalation of motherboard drivers.
I started with the video card and installed software before finishing the mobo drivers.

Try a drive wipe and reinstall all the software...if you are down for it.
