all up in yo grill!
after cooking my last cpu...i'd like to make sure that my cpu stays cool this time.
what goes good with a ABIT "AV8" K8T800 motherboard and an athlon 64 3400 cpu?

i was thinking about the Thermaltake SilentTower 4 in 1 CPU Cooler but i dont see how it fits on the motherboard.

rumble. to ensure the right product i would contact amd directly.
(amd.com) this is a fast moving field and changes rapidly with all sorts of new products. what i might recommend today, something better might be out tomorrow. amd also have various info on motherboards and a knowledge base. if you google there are also several amd motherboard sites.
one thing i should mention thats important is the power supply.
people spend soooo much on the processor , then they chintz on the power supply to save money. this can lead to processor problems. the proper overspecd power supply is VITAL.
the situation that often occurs is people build a system with a certain power supply ...then a year down the road add more peripherals and sometimes
the power supply cant keep up with all the demands on it.
so - choose a power supply that will ALSO be able to handle any additional things you put in your pc in the future.
with the right set up an amd 64 system should last you a very very long time. also i posted in the computer sound card section a link headed
amd64/4000 that analyses amd 64 performance in detail.
the link is choc full of details and well worth a read.
peace.

why don't you use the heatsink that comes witht he CPU? that shit is HUGE! i have the same speed CPU with 1M of cache but its 754 and i use the stock fan and my temps are around the high 30's low 40's

i'm going with the newegg bundle....it doesnt come with a heatsink. powersupply is 420watts.

Look at the 12v levels for your PSU. Try to get one at least a 22A or better for long term upgradability. You might also pickup some Arctic Silver 5 for your HSF setup. It is a lot better than the cheap junk that comes with most stock HSF.
