Hi folks!

As we approach September 11th, each of us will remember the tragic events of last year and reflect in their own ways. I wanted to share with you something that we did last year to try and help.

On another musician's board I hang out on (www.artistarea.com), 22 artists in 8 countries around the world got together and wrote, arranged, recorded, and released a tribute song, called Take My Hand (A Better World). This happend entirely through the miracle of Internet technology, none of the artsts had ever met each other in person; but each of us contributed a piece of the recording, and sent it to a central point for final edits and mixdown.

Please visit www.mp3charity.com to read all about it and hear the song. Any listens would be appreciated, as all proceeds from this song go to the American Red Cross to benefit the families of the victims of the tragedies in NY, Washington, and Pennsylvania.

The first song on the linked MP3.com page is the collaboration with all 22 of us. (my contribution was a programmed drum track...) Also, if you scroll way down the page, I did my own complete ground-up recording/arrangement of the piece, and collaborated with two of the other artists from the original song (Kim Novak and Lee "SinSeeker" Mallory from The HeKkLeRs) for vocal help (since I'm not really a singer). Look for the "llarion's arrangement" version...

Anyway, would love to hear what you think of them! Read the "process" page first, it's really an excellent digest of what might be perhaps the largest example of online collaboration in history!

Thanks!
Phil

ok, you've got some pretty screwy vocal sync issues at about...

Oh wait...what a wonderful thing to do.

Thanks for posting it.

:D

hehhehheh!! :)

Actually though, if you want to do a deconstruct, you're welcome to do my version, farther down the page. The big collab is, by it's very nature, looseygoosey, and that was more about the song and the sentiment than the performances. You're welcoem to shred my other version, because that one is me on everything, and addong vocals that were shipped to me by the two atists that helped me...

Very cool thing to do!It's still mindboggling how technology allows people to be part of the same song from different parts of the world!Cool!

Llarion...I meant to tell you that I listened to your mix, and it was a ton tighter. I don't know why it's not the "final." I mean, you had others singing on it...but the vocal sync issues were gone on your version.

Nice work,
-jamal

Thanks very much! :)

Well, it's not the final version because it only represents 5 of the 22 folks involved in the creation of the song. We wanted the full version to be there, respresenting the unity of 8 countries in our effort.

heheh. Vocal sync issues indeed! Was wondering what chrisharris meant. lol

When do Stevie Wonder and Neil Young step in?

The guitar player in the background is overplaying. :)

Seriously, great cause and a good place to donate proceeds. The music is... predictable, right down to the modulation at the end! Was that Jon Bon Jovi's suggestion?

:)

Cool Stuff!

Heh!! :)

I think it modulates because "We Are The World" did; it's very bombastic and broad, ya know? :D
