This track is from an "on location" recording I did for a friends band. The drummer is pretty bad but I did what I could. Despite the lack of "awesome playing" I still had quite a bit of fun. Hell they aren't a pro band and I am by no means a Pro engineer so I guess it evens out.

Any mix comments are greatly appreciated.

The song is Maron Haven-Maron Haven a little ways down the page.

Usual disclaimer I didn't play or write any of this
Thanks in advance

I like the tune. Very 80's, but still cool. I think the drums sound ok. Very solid sounding tune. Straight up R&R....Nice guitar tone. Vocals sit well. All in all, cool song. Sounds good to me. Nothing sounds out of place, here, so I wouldn't change anything, myself.....but, I am just a listener. I dig as far as that goes... :D

The guitars almost sound like black Sabbath, like that center of eternity song, or maybe that was an ozzy song. Has a sabbath sound to it, the music and the mix... Further on, maybe some maiden in there. Sounds pretty darn good for just coming in and doing an on location thing.

Hey, looks like they had a blast doing it, dude... :D :D

Its good, me likey. Yes, 80s indeed, I cant quite place who it reminds me of.

Drummer is OK. It never quite gets in that supertight rockin groove but it works. Singer nails thhat sound, actually the whole band pretty much does and its a good recording to boot. Good stuff.

Dogman I definitely try and make the recording process as fun as possible. Its not paying my bills so no point in trying to act like some big wig producer. I've found that bands often perform better if I manage to keep a "laid back" atmosphere. Of course there is an agenda and work to be done but I try and keep away from just watching the clock etc.....

David K thanks for the listen man. The drummer was definitely struggling on most of this stuff. I just had to make the best of it. Cool guy, not so cool drummer haha.

Hey Wireneck,

I like the guitar sound you have going there!
The vocals seem a tad too up front for me!
The drumming is very tight throughout most of the tune!

Overall a nice piece of work! :)

Gorty, thanks for the listen. The guitar tracks were done with my 1979 Les Paul Custom into the guitarist Peavey 2x12 combo. Im not even sure what particular model it was. After some serious tweaking, it was usable.
I might should make the vocal a little more wet to have it "sit" in the mix better. The drummer is incredibly sloppy by my standards but whatever works for you.
Thanks again for listening.
