I recorded this in my home studio and played all the instruments. Judi Floyd on lead vocals. And yes, the main vocals were recorded on a $79.oo Chinese mic.

Feedback welcome.

Captain Of Your Destiny

V-1 Have you wished to a star lit sky
To guide your trip as life streams by
You can navigate through unknown waters if you try

Chorus: You are the Captain of your destiny
Your future harbors hope imagine what could be
You are the Captain of your destiny
May fair winds often blow
Chart a course now & go

V-2 Cruise through time let your spirit soar
Seek your goals reach that distant shore
That's what that onboard drive inside all of us is for

(Repeat Chorus)
Bridge: Sailing won't be all smooth
Rise above waves in your way
You can master your own craft
You determine every destination
(Repeat Chorus)

Sounds pretty good to me!

What kind of mic was it specifically?

Glad you asked. It was a Studio Projects B-1. I have several condensor mics, but none sounded better on her voice.

I sang the low harmony through a mxl V67 or the C-1 (not sure), but her 3 vocals were all on the B-1.

Other mics I tried before settling on the B-1.

AT-4033
AT-4040
SP C-1
Peavey EC-15
ADK C-1000S
And lots of acoustic guitar mics. I know I recorded the guitars direct. A decision I regret.

Pretty cool song, and a very decent recording to boot. Style-wise, it sounds like something I'd hear at the pharmacy. All it needs is a soprano saxaphone or clarinet.
