Hi Guys,
I don't know if any of ya read my post in the fostex forum, but, to make a long story short.....
I was gonna buy an mr-8 and GC didn't have any in. Being the impatient, compulsive sort I bit the bullet and bought a 788. I've played with it for a day and it sounds great!
It does seem very complex tho and I"m sure I've only scratched te surface of what it can do. The salesman mentioned a "master tutorial" video that I didn't buy at the time, and now I'm kinda wishing I had. Has anybody seen this video and if so, is it worth it for a first time digital recorder like me? Also, anybody know of any other online type of tutorials for the 788?

Thanks,

Jenny Arnold

Jenny,

The 788 is a great machine, been using ours for about 18 months with some pretty good results, if your not used to digital stuff as I was`nt it doe`s seem complicated, but the best way to work it out is use it. The Tascam tech. dept. are very helpful if you need advice.
Good luck, Jenny

It's been a great machine for me for over two years and if eight tracks is enough for you, I don't think it can be beat.

And like everyone says, check out the Tascam forum, it's invalueable.

jwa70,
I've been using the 788 for about a year now and I love the thing. I also bought the video and I would highly recommend it. I've gone back and reviewed several different sections of it a couple of times and it is very helpful. The Tascam forums are good also, and there is some info. there that is not on the video. Did you get the CD burner with it. I didn't and I regret it. Good luck!

the 788 rules..

as mentioned, check out the 788 forums..

Figuring out how the virtual tracks work is the best thing you'll do.. My average song recorded on the 788 is about 30 tracks.. There may be only 8 faders, but once you get the hang of it, you won't look at it as an 8 track any longer..
