788 users, Where are The Sexton Sisters?

I wonder how long it will take them to find us over here? It's funny, I just went through the TASCAM posts to find more clues to mp3's, and lo and behold, there were The Sexton Sisters asking about where I was....that I had been useful, or something like that. Funny thing is, several months ago I used the word "shit" on that forum, and Pat sent me an e-mail statiing theat THEY had complained.

I'm not sure the sisters were all girls, a couple were though and they posted url's for some nice mp3's done on the 788 and had many interesting comments on Tascam's forum.

Don't give Pat too much grief. I've been pressing him pretty heavily about even linking to an external forum but that's being shot down too. I personally believe Pat's probably getting an earful from the corporate lawyers over this whole MP3 thing and they're just trying to protect their liability.

Actually, that's not true at all. There are absolutely no liability issues at all by allowing users who purchased the product to share work accomplishment with each other via the internet, via the TASCAM.COM forum.

If you check out the Yamaha sponsered, and Roland sponsered sites, you'll find they state very clearly that they are not responsible for links. It is a simple discaimer.

The only issue TASCAM's lawyers ought to be considering is that they sell product using that site as a selling tool, and then when the machine malfunctions like crazy and needs mulitple upgrades etc...and generally starts looking like a lemon, they start pulling elements of their selling tool out (off, the forum).
 
Though I agree that it was a big mistake to pull external links out (i.e. mp3s) resulting in the TASCAM forum's loss of head of steam, I don't think you can really accuse TASCAM of censoring the forum so that it is skewed positively... there were and are loads of 'my 788 is a lemon' style posts, for example check out Nadir's recent ones (he is one of the most knowledgeable members in my opinion).

At the end of the day it is their forum on a site which publicises their product. PK seems to have been around much less on the forum recently, I would say it is less of an interest to him just as it is to me now. I think a decision came from somewhere to pull mp3's, I can't imagine PK agreeing but I guess he is obliged to toe the corporate line or else piss off.

ps did you realise that this site has a forum devoted to mp3 critique, or is everyone here particularly interested in what the 788 is producing?

Haven't spent too much time in the mp3 section yet but I plan to and it seems pretty good. I think there's so many things unique to the 788 as to mixing, eq, and effects that we need a place to discuss the resulting mp3's.
