Can anyone recommend a quality pair of headphones for around $75. I look for some for monitoring.

i have a set of ATH-S30's by audio technica. I got them for $100 Canadian so they should be in your price range. they are great in my opinion, nice bass and they cut out a lot of bleed if you use them for tracking

id go with some akg's
best headphones i've used thus far (and this isn't saying much) have been the akg k44's (or 66's not sure) so I'd go with that. plus it seems to be what you mostly seen in studios that i've seen (in videos and tv). check out the AKG M 80. They have even better frequency response and sensitivity than the ones I've used, and I've used many different kinds of inexpensive headphones. The AKG's provided the most natural sound I've ever heard come from headphones, not too bright, or too warm, or plasticky like some JVC ones i own.

I'd say your best option is a used pair of Akg 240 m.
See ebay or place an ad at headfi.com. Just above $75, i reckon. Can't think of any contenders at that price.
For listening purposes, a pair of used Allesandro MS1 (modified Grado Sr125)would be the best deal at the price.
I'm not sure if they're balanced enough for monitoring, though they were modified to even out the very bright Grado version,
$25 cheaper than the Grados too.

akg 240 monitors
I just checked out the akg 240 monitors, they sounded sweet. $130 cdn, a little more, but they seem to be worth it. I compared them to a pair of berinhgers 1000's and they seemed to loud and to be boosting the bass to much.
I'm decided on the akg 240 monitors, although I'm going to check out the 240 studios, just in case

You may want to opt for the K240S.
If you are going to spend that much money, check out the Sennheiser HD280pros.
Dont have to worry about bleed and feedback as they are closed back.
