5m cable causes mic to cut

Hi guys, ive searched the internet for ages trying to find someone with a similar situation to me but i cant :/
i recently built a home studio and want to connect my blue yeti pro mic to my pc via a 5m cable because thats the distance i need to have my mic butttttt using a 3m cable works perfectly fine but when i try to use a 5m cable the sound randomly cuts out, i hear a static noise all my levels on fl studio get stuck and i cant hear anything through the headphones plugged in to the yeti nor does the recording continue. i also cant hear the standard feedback that the blue yeti produces... ive tried using aiso4allv2 etc etc tried different 5m cables but none of them work... please tell me its a simple fix cos its really winding me up. sorry about the bad english or spelling btw.

Is this a USB cable or an XLR? If USB, you are at the practical limit of USB. If XLR, try another cable!
 
Assuming you are talking about a USB cable to connect the Yeti, I suspect the USB power cannot overcome the cable resistance at 5M. 5M is reaching the maximum length of cable reccomended for most low power-hungry USB devices. To run that length of cable may require a powered USB hub or Repeater cable, to provide enough power. However, it may impart additional, unwanted electronic noise to the signal.
You can try the cable in a different USB port that has more power. Some USB ports are for "dumb" peripherals, like keyboards and mouse, while other ports have more power for other devices.

The Blue Yeti Pro appears to have an XLR connection as well as USB. Rather that buy a repeater which may work OK, perhaps look at getting a decent USB interface. A USB interface would allow you to get the distance you want, upgrade to better mics easily if you chose to do so, and depending on what you're doing may have better functional features than a USB mic. If you consider a USB interface, ask for some suggestions here as to what might be best for you.

Could be a problem with the delay of the USB data at 5m that audio isn't liking.

I second Mark's point about getting an interface. Anyone who is in the least bit serious about music recording will find USB mics very limiting. Ok for some jobs and the quality has improved no end but still not at all versatile.

Budget AIs? The Alesis i02 is as cheap as it gets and still decent quality. Steinberg UR22 better but I have also read good things about the Audio Box 2? DO NOT cheap out on a single mic input AI! You WILL come to regret it!

Note, the failure of USB devices at the 5mtr cable limit has nothing to do with loss of DC power (at least not due to cable loss) . The DC resistance of a 5mtr cable is only a tiny fraction greater than a 3mtr one (and all are next to bugger all!) . My KA6 interface would run fine on any PC, any OS I found on a 3mtr cable. It would work fine on an XP PC on one brand of cable but not another. It would work fine on BOTH cables on a W7 PC! Conclusion? 5mtrs is indeed at the limit for audio USB devices and is due to DATA loss not power loss.

Printers, USB keyboards, QWERTY and MIDI do not seem to give a flying cluck (I experimentally ran a USB POWERED MIDI controller over 44mtrs of CAT5) but AIs are fussy buggers and I have never tried a repeater but would not be at all surprised to find they don't work.

You guys are awsome! makes sense now haha think im going to get an audio interface, i know that with the blue icicle you lose the ability to have your mic as an output so you can hear through it obviously, are there any that doesnt get rid of that feature? or has an 3.5mm jack slot for my headphones so i dont have to have to get another long ass wire. Thanks :D
