Still Learning.......
I can't afford to upgrade Windows (as I'm on 98 at the moment) AND buy SX, so I was wondering if and how much 5.1 has come down in price recently? If it hasn't dropped in price, will it be soon?

Well, Steinberg just changed their minds on this topic, and it turns out that Cubase SX 1.02 and on _will_ work under W98. They say that SX won't be _supported_ on W98, but that they are removing the hook in the installer that prevented SX from being installable under it. After that, you're on your own.

So you could go to SX once 1.02 comes out, and still run under W98 after all. I guess the number of people who were annoyed by having to upgrade finally convinced them.

To read more about this, go to the following link. This is an official Steinberg spokesman (Dave Nicholson, the moderator of the cubase.net forums and a project manager) explaining all this...

I have SX under XP, and I like the combo- so I'm not unhappy that I upgraded. Your mileage may vary...

Thanks Skippy. Good info. Especially because I could previously only run SX on my laptop with XP as my PC only has ME. Now I can dink around with it on my PC.
