i have a 488 mkII and was wondering should i get rid of it and get the d1000 ( i think thats right). The reason is I was told that the quality of the music will be better. I don't want to spend alot of money, just want clearer music.

I have a asr -10, cakewalk 9, logic (which i still haven't tackled yet) cool edit (just got it) and the lexicon core2 & mp-100, which i just bought yesterday. And i'm trying to run everything into my pc which is a pIII 450mhz 128ram, 13.5ghz, and a 20ghz drives on it.

The TM-D1000 is good for the price( $500).

You will also have to purchase another soundcard, in order to fully utilize the piece.

One option/card you could purchase would be the Tascam PCI822 card.

The soundcard gives you 8 TDIF INS/OUTS and an additional 2 MIDI INS/OUTS, and 2 SPDIF.

I think it costs about $230 - $300.

By purchasing the board and the card it will enable you to connect all of your equipment. And...to create a better/cleaner product.

Check out some of the info at their site

There is a large forum of D1000 users at

and click on 'Digital Mixers'

If you want to transfer 8 channels from the D1000 with the Core card via ADAT to your pc you will also need to purchase the Tascam IF-TAD.

I think you would be better off with a TDIF card such as the Tascam mentioned earlier or some other TDIF cards:
