44 and Omni

I have a delta 44 and was considering getting a OMNI to link up to it- so riddle me this

I've read that the Omni adds 6 additional inputs to a delta, but does it replace the 44's breakout box and give me 6 inputs total, or can the two work together and I get a total of ten inputs (wouldn't this be glorious?)

It replaces. The Omni is just a front-end for the Delta44 or Delta66. It adds a couple mic pres and gives you some routing options etc. At any rate, you will only be able to record 4 simultaneous tracks with the Omni studio and Delta44. With the Delta66 you should be able to do 6, but two channels will have to be SPDIF (the 66 is the same as the 44, but includes 2 channels of SPDIF).
