I am considering scoring a Korg D-888 , 8 track digital multitrack. My geetar center guy will sell me one for $599.00. The main reason I am considering it is the 8 direct out capabilities.

I am not very knowledgable with the sync channels, though I do know it will accomodate midi tones from the korg.

What I want to do is use the Tascams for front end tracking application to the Korg. Will I be able to for instance track 4 tracks on the 4 track, dump them to the Korg, and while monitoring the Korg, track 4 more on the tascam and will they be in sync when sent back to the Korg?

I need to insure that the tracks sent to the Korg will be in sync with the new tracks on the tascam when I dub 4 more tracks.

I hope this question makes sense as it is kind of cluttered with what I am trying to describe- I think...

I own a masterlink, and can easily ping pong to it from the 4 track, but then I have to do a good premix, as I will be sending back the 2 track mixdown to the 4 track and have only two tracks to play with.

I want the luxury of tracking to my tascams and with the Korg, I can end up with 8 good tracks with direct outs which I can really tweak for a mixdown to the masterlink.

I like the 424 better than the 488, even though the 488 has 8 tracks. Ive done tests recording to both at the same time and the sound from the 424, imho, is better fidelity all around.

thanks all,

clevo
