Can anyone with a 424 original (though I suppose a MKii or MKiii might work just as well) take a look at their power supply/adapter for me and tell me exactly what it says on it?

I've discovered that having the precise power supply is crucial to the proper operation of my 4-track, and I want to make sure I get the exact power supply.

I'm looking for the exact name of the adapter, it's input, output and current ratings.

For instance: Tascam Part No PS-P2, 12 volt DC, 350 ma (which may be the adapter I need to get, but I'm not sure).

Much appreciated,

RA

I don't have a 424, but the porta02 uses the same supply(PS-P2). Ive got it right here...

specs are..
Input: 120V AC 60Hz 15W (should be standard)
Output: 12V DC 600ma center negative, outside positive (not 350ma like you mentioned before)

I'd say stay away from the multi adapters. Sounds like you're not getting enough amperage. Most people just worry about the voltage setting, but a supply with enough current is just as important. Multi adapters are alright in a pinch, but for a dedicated supply, just get one with those exact specs. Should work fine!

Rock on!

The Porta02 is a smaller machine than the 424 and probably uses a different amount of power. I wrote down the specs anyway as a guide. Thanks.

I have the original 424..bought in 1994...

the power supply reads:

Tascam
AC Adapter
Model No. PS-P424
Input: AC120V 60Hz 26W
Output: DC12V 1100mA

That's it. That should (hopefully) solve all my problems right there. Thanks a lot, man. Very much appreciated.

no problem..good luck..if you find one, post back here as i might need a replacement sometime..

My bad dude, I thought you were looking for the specs on the PS-P2 and it would work.. Hope you're rockin away on your 424.

If ya can't get the exact one, just get the right polarity and try to get close on the amperage, like 1000mA should be close enough.

Good Luck!
