I got a 424mkIII

I have about 100 tapes from the past on it. I want to transfer these to my computer to work with them. I need a soundcard upgrade.

What am I looking for on the soundcard?

Will I be able to bring all 4 tracks to seperate tracks on the computer?

Any suggestions on a soundcard I should buy?

Thanks.

maudio delta sound card. music123.com and zzounds.com
have them. the software i use will enable you to record the 4 track recordings to individual 4 tracks on the pc using the delta.
plus do lots of audio editing tricks including noise gating etc.
there are also mastering features and effects built in.
read about it here ...

thanks for the advice. I am using Vegas Video 4.0 for my computer audio needs. will this work in the way powertracks does?

will the maudio work with vegasvideo 4.0 for audio production?

Would the MAudio Audiophile 2496 work for the application I will be using? (tranfering from MKIII to Vegas.)

Thanks.

Yes those M-Audio cards will work with Vegas.

If the 424 will output all 4 tracks at once, you're best bet is the M-Audio delta 44. This will let you record all 4 tracks in one pass.

You can still do it with a 2-input card, and record in 2 passes, but any sligh variation in the motor speed will put the tracks permanently out of alignment in Vegas
