great job, maybe turn the vocals up about 10 notches.....

I listened to Stumble because it had the most interesting title. Kind of a weird guitar riff. I kind of like it, but it doesn't seem to follow the rhythm in spots.

The guitars have kind of a "far off" sound to them. I'm not exactly sure how they were tracked. But they lacked a little clarity and definition. I think the singer has a nice voice. The effects on it (chrous maybe?) sort of wash it out. I would feature that voice a little more. Maybe enhance it with a large room reverb (just a suggestion - there are million other options). That voice reminds me of someone, I just can't think of him.

The overall levels of the song are a bit low throughout.

During the outro it sounds like the drummer hit a few things he didn't intend to hit - or dropped his car keys :D.

My thoughts... Trip.

Sounds live. Is that what you were after? Or were you multi-tracking?

Thanks for the comments.
TripleM - It is kind of a strange song, chris's version of a stoner song he calls it. kind of weird because it goes back and forth between 4/4 time and 6/4 time. The guitar does have a far off sound to them, and I'm not sure why. The song was recorded live in His living room. I used a SM 57 on his amp a couple inches away from the stack. The bass amp was miked also with a SM 57 in the same manner. The drums were miked with two overhead Oktava MC 012's and a SM 58 in the bass drum. Then chris's vocal mike went right into the mixer. I'm using the preamps from the mixer, a Mackie CFX 16, and out of the mixer into a Delta 44 into Sonar. There were four tracks recorded at the same time. I did drop the sticks or something at the end there, but i was already late for work, and no time to do it over again. I listened to other recordings, and they do have a more up front sound to them. How do I get that? Is it a recording technique or a mastering trick? There is chorus effect on the vocals, the guitar, eq only on the bass, and the drums. Any other suggestions would be welcome. I still have the master tracks on my pc.

ok im listening to "swetest thing" cause well no has yet...
tip number one (1):..musicians as a whole are selfish flakey pricks..ask for help on A song...lol....as we need as much time in our day to come up with OUR next best thing...its o.k. .....

this time....

lmao..yep this sounds live and it it is then i will say you sound pretty tight....vocals were a bit shaky at first ...but got better as the song went on.I am happy to see your in idaho as im in oregon and there arent very many northwesterners on here for some reason...(i thinks its backlash from ..ahem,...the whole "grunge" thing...

is tere only one guitar player??...the song to me needs another git tone or part to break it up ..i like the line through this but it needs BIG PUSH somewhere?..make sense??..songwriting was good as well...maybe some harmmonies.."SHES THE SWEETEST THIIIIIIIIIIIIIING"....

plus with a name like "starbird" i know you can sing .....belt it out drummer man...

cool song..

Thanks Jamal. I've been listening to the song Last hurrah and it is fantastic. You all did a great job.

It was live, and there was only one guitar. I agree that it could use another. I like here in Idaho, and we like Oregon too.

I'm trying to figure out how I can get better at recording stuff, but i only play the drums, and I have a hard time finding people to play with. any way, that's for another forum i suppose. I'm glad you liked the song.

take care, Jason
