Assuming you're talking about a 31 band graphic EQ, generally, you wouldn't. They're for quick, rough adjustments to counteract room anomalies with PA systems (and maybe for feeding the side chain on a compressor). Not really what you'd want to use for tracking & mixing.

Otherwise - It's just like anything else. Output goes to input.

I'd hesitate about putting it between the mics and the recording interface. It's too easy to have wrong settings to ruin a recording if you're not careful. And it can add unwanted noise.

I know that my current mics need a 3dB bump in the low end to sound normal in the lower voices (Tuba / Bass). You could put it inbetween output and input and play / re-record in realtime. Not really needed all that much these days with faster computers and software versions of EQ. I could probably use one for my studio monitors and Delta 44 which seems to lack high end when driving those monitors. My Korg MR-1000 doesn't do that. But my Korg isn't an interface, so playing DVDs on that computer can be a bit muddy sounding on the studio monitors without EQ.

You couldn't put it before the interface anyway, unless the eq has mic pre's. Which it doesn't. It might have xlr inputs, which look like pre's, but they aren't pre's..

I think the logical place for an EQ is towards the end of your signal chain. Definitely after any compressor, limiter, gates, other corrective processes. You probably want it after EVERYTHING, ie the very last thing in your chain. Whether it's on 1 track in the project or across the final mix, you want an eq to shape the final signal.
